Be Happy By Living in the Moment

We all know that living in the past can drag a person down, but why? And what about living in the That can really be depressing. We need balance: we need to live int he moment. Living in the moment is something we must focus on if we are to lead happy lives. Living in the moment is a way to become and stay happy. Here is why.


We Can’t Change the Past

Almost every one of us has regrets about something in our past, but there is nothing we can do to change it. Instead of wasting our moments and energy in lament over situations that are long gone and no longer in our control to change, we can use the energy to make our present situation better. Learn what you can from the past, and then move on.

We Can’t Predict What the Future Holds

Don’t worry about the future, that is in God's hands.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

You can only prepare to a certain extent, and being fearful about what tomorrow holds will only cause stress that will contribute to health and mental problems.  If you have hope for the future you can live in the moment and choose to make the present your focus. Indeed concentrating on accomplishing what you can right now will make your future plans and dreams more likely to be fulfilled.

Forget Fear 

...seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

Instead of fearing what repercussions your choices will bring to your future, make decisions, based on what is good and right. And the joy and fulfilment and happiness will follow as sure as day follows night.

Eat Yourself Happy: Eat Fatty Foods

Food can greatly affect your mood, for better or for worse? When it comes to happiness and every other area in your life, food has the capacity to harm or heal. By learning about what foods to choose and avoid, you will be able to help your body and mind, and embrace happiness. Start off with looking for foods that are high in oil and yes I am talking nuts. Our brains rely on  fats, such as oils containing omega-3 fatty acids, and they do wonders for mood and improving happiness by allowing nerve cells to communicate more efficiently.  Walnuts, pumpkin seeds and fish oil are a great way to consume these. Omega-3 fatty consumptions has been have been demonstrated to reduce the prevalence of clinical depression in many different studies.

Look for fat, eating any fatty food does make you happy. "Eating fat seems to make us less vulnerable to sad emotions, even if we don't know we're eating fat," says psychiatrist Dr. Lukas Van Oudenhove, co-author of the study. For the study, researchers played sad music and showed sad photos to the participants. The participants who were injected with the saturated fat were happier than those who had been given a simple saline solution. The study is considered the first of kind to show that food's effect on mood is "really independent of pleasant stimuli". That is to say, eating fat foods makes you less likely to feel sad.

Sugar is the number one food to avoid if you wish to be happy. Sugar sets you up for a quick, false surge of energy when you feel the sugar high, which is then followed by a crash. Sugar can also harm your immune system and trigger depression.  A new study  suggesting that sugar may contribute to depression adds to a flood of findings linking sugar to a variety of both physical and mental health problems.

Because food has such a big effect on your mood, you would be wise to utilize it to its full potential. Instead of just choosing your meal based on what you desire at the moment, turn your plate into a powerful weapon that will fight depression and anxiety, and build and maintain your happiness.
You deserve the chance to feel joy, and by modifying your eating habits you can change your life for the better. Choose your mood by choosing your food, and see the difference it makes.

Low Carb is the Answer, don’t be fat forever.

Advanced technology is affecting our life today by causing an increase in luxuries and facilities that result in more laziness.  We can order almost anything on Amazon and get it delivered. We can get any food we want from the local supermarket. These and other cultural factors, such as the popularity of sugary foods,  have resulted in a simple horrific truth: more people are becoming obese these days. It is one of the most rapidly thriving health problems of the 21st century. This health problem is more serious in developed countries. It causes serious heart problems and results in devastated effects on body.

One cure, the one that I have found to work, is the adoption of low carbohydrate diet; a diet containing lesser amounts of carbohydrates. Low carb diet enhances your body by shifting your metabolism towards the burning of fat instead of carbs. As fats are the primary cause of obesity so they must be removed to cure the effect. When your intake of carbohydrates; which are direct sources of energy to humans declines the body starts making fats itself as a source of energy.

So as now high amount of fats are getting burned, this ultimately results in weight loss. Low carb diets are made up of foods having low sugary contents and simultaneously having high contents of proteins and fats like fish, eggs, red meat, salads etc.

 A little exercise, jogging or weight-lifting for example, will act as a catalyst to weight loss with low carb diet. And once you are at your desired weight it continues to help in muscle formation - keeping you fit.

The God Inspection: the healthy way to evaluation of your spiritual life

If you spend a lot of time in introspection, examining yourself spiritually, morally, mentally; then you can end up in a cycle of negativity.  This unhealthy kind of introspection is repetitive negativistic and a major risk factor anxiety and depression.  But there is a healthy way to be introspective and to examine yourself to look inwardly and that is to involve God.

Some people engage in it too much naval-gazing introspection looking for faults and indulging in self pity. Others fail to look at themselves at all, there never evaluate how they are doing spiritually and morally and thus live on the surface. The important thing to remember is this - self-examination should always be carried out in the presence of God. If this tule is not adhered to, then the exercise can become harmful and counter-productive. Some Christians strongly oppose the idea of self- examination. They say: "the moment you see that you have sinned and then put your sin 'under the blood' you are all right. To stop and think about it is an indication that you are not spiritually healthy and that you lack faith."

But in fact, as the great preacher, Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said: "The trouble with most of us is that we are far too 'healthy' spiritually." That is too say, we assume that we are doing really well and end up brushing problems under the rug.  The best course of action is to pray and ask God to lead the inspection, and receive from him:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”  Psalm 139:23

A Brief Note On Hearing From God When You Really Need It

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

In order to hear from God we need to have our mind changed to be receptive to what God wants to say. The bible clearly teaches us that we are to change our way of thinking and that we need to do that in order to be able to test and approve what God's will is God speaks to us through our minds but our minds are distorted, sinful, therefore we need to have our minds changed such that we are ready to hear God's will. Then, when there was a crisis when we desperately need to hear from God, we will be ready to hear it and understand what God has to say. Change your mind then by regular attention to God by regular reading of his word in scripture and regular asking to be filled by God's spirit committing yourself to learn as he teaches you and changes you. That is the way that you can rely on hearing from God when you really need it.
